Your classic baked apples, so easy to make and so delicious! Serve with ice cream or custard for a great winter dessert.
4 Granny Smith apples
4 large dates
1 tablespoon currants
1 teaspoon lemon zest
2 tablespoon brown sugar
- Core the apples and chop the dates.
- In a small bowl, combine the dates, currants and zest. Pack into the cored apples. Press in some brown sugar and top with a teaspoon of butter.
- Place 1/2 cup water into a baking dish, add the apples and make in a moderately hot oven 20-30 minutes or until soft. Serve with ice cream.
