Rum and walnuts combine to make a rich cake glaze which is perfect for dessert when the weather is colder.

Serves: 8 

  • 60g unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons rum
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, finely diced
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Preparation:5min  ›  Cook:5min  ›  Ready in:10min 

  1. In a small saucepan combine the butter, sugar, rum, water, salt and walnuts. Bring to a boil and simmer 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in vanilla. Pour over the cake while still warm.
