Beef Stroganoff using Sour Cream

    This is the beef stroganoff recipe that my mum cooked for me when I was little, now I make it for my kids and have no desire to change it.

    Serves: 4 

    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 500g rump steak, cut in thin strips
    • 1 medium brown onion, sliced
    • 2 cloves garlic, diced
    • 300g mushrooms, sliced
    • 2 tablespoons cornflour
    • 250g sour cream
    • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
    • 1/2 cup (125ml) beef stock

    Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:25min 

    1. In a frying pan with the olive oil cook the steak until browned then remove from the frying pan.
    2. To the frying pan now add the onion and garlic, cook until they start to soften then add the mushrooms.
    3. In a bowl combine the cornflour, sour cream and tomato sauce. Add to the frying pan along with the cooked steak and beef stock.
    4. Cook until the sauce is simmering then serve with pasta.

    Great base. Quick and an easy after work feed. . I added a little paprika and a little worcestershire sauce. Didn't change it much. Very tasty and easy. Well done.  -  09 Oct 2017
