Thai Hot and Sour Beef Salad

    This Thai beef salad has the classic mix of Thai flavours, sweet, sour, salty and hot. If you got it in Thailand they would use more chillies.

    Serves: 2 

    • torn lettuce leaves, for serving
    • 200g steak
    • 2 tablespoons fish sauce
    • 2 tablespoons lime juice
    • 1 teaspoon sugar
    • 2 Thai chillies, seeded and finely diced
    • 1 onion shallot, thinly sliced
    • 1 handful mint leaves

    1. Preheat the grill. Line a serving bowl with the lettuce leaves.
    2. Grill the steak on both sides until medium rare, about 8 minutes. Let rest on a cutting board a few minutes then cut into very thin slices across the grain.
    3. In a bowl, combine the fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, chillies and shallot. Add the steak and mint leaves and toss, then pour out onto the lettuce leaves. Serve warm.
