Tomato Pesto Pasta Sauce

    Very simple, basic paste sauce that can easily be varied by adding vegetables, mushrooms, seafood or meat. So much tastier and better for you than stuff from the bottle. You could even use it on a pizza base.

    Serves: 2 

    • 1 tin (400g) chopped tomatoes in juice
    • 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 2 tablespoons basil pesto
    • salt and pepper to taste

    Preparation:5min  ›  Cook:10min  ›  Ready in:15min 

    1. Heat oil in a pan. Add chopped garlic and fry for just a few seconds.
    2. Add tomatoes with juice, season with salt and pepper and bring to boil.
    3. Simmer for 5 minutes, stir in the pesto and remove from heat.

    This was a marvelous sauce! The basil pesto added a wonderfully rich flavor element to the tomatoes, and it was so quick and easy, making it a refreshing summer dinner. I added seasoned ground turkey for protein and it tasted amazing! Thank you!  -  20 May 2013
