Sultana Scones

    25 minutes

This is a basic scone recipe I make sweet and delicious with the addition of a handful of sultanas. Great with morning tea.

    1. Preheat an oven to 230 degrees C.
    2. Rub the butter with your finger tips into the flour, sugar and salt to form a breadcrumb type texture.
    3. Add the egg and enough milk into the flour to form a light dough then combine in the sultanas.
    4. Turn the dough out onto a floured board and knead slightly. Cut out round scones.
    5. Place on a floured tray and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes.

I made these as per the recipe but using gluten free self raising flour with added baking powder. I also brushed the tops with egg wash and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. I took them to my mother-in-law’s for Easter - she has a friend with celiac disease hence the gluten free flour. They were magnificent and were greatly appreciated by all  -  01 Apr 2018
