This is a great golden syrup dumpling recipe that we cook at home and is a popular warm dessert when we go camping.

Serves: 4 

  • Sauce
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Dumplings
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 egg, lightly whisked
  • milk, as required

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:5min  ›  Ready in:15min 

  1. Sauce: Place the sauce ingredients in a saucepan and heat until well combined and gently boiling.
  2. Dumplings: Rub the butter into the flour, stir in the egg and enough milk to make a fairly stiff dough. Roll into balls and drop into the sauce.
  3. Cook with the lid on for about 5 to 10 minutes then serve hot with cream or ice cream.
