Make the instant pudding as per the packets directions, except exchange half of the milk for cream to make a creamier pudding.
Preheat the grill to high. Lightly sprinkle some sugar evenly on top of each pudding. Grill close to the heat until the sugar melts and bubbles, keeping a close watch on it so that it does not burn. Remove from the heat and allow to cool for a few minutes or until the sugar has hardened to form a crust, then serve.
