Vermicelli is one of the common ingredients used to cook dessert in most of the Indian household. It is mostly used in making sweet vermicelli payasam. Let us try something different today. Here is an interesting recipe using vermicelli but with an Italian twist.

  • Vermicelli - 225 gm.
  • Caster Sugar - 200 gm.
  • Ricotta cheese - 225 gm.
  • Ground cinnamon - 2.5 ml
  • Ground cloves 2.5 ml
  • A pinch of Salt
  • Plain flour - 50 gm.
  • Raisins - 50 gm.
  • Clear Honey 45 ml
  • Single (light) or double (heavy) cream

  1. Take a large pan of water and bring it to boil.
  2. Add the vermicelli and boil it for almost 2 minutes.
  3. After two minutes drain the vermicelli and rinse under cold water.
  4. Beat the cream until they become soft and fluffy.
  5. Add the ricotta, cinnamon, cloves and salt and then fold the flour.
  6. Follow the step by stirring in the vermicelli and raisins.
  7. Beat the cream until they form soft peaks and then fold into the cake mixture.
  8. Take a greased microwave safe pan and then pour in the contents and bake it in a preheated oven at 200°C for one hour until golden brown.
  9. Heat the honey for some time and then pour it over the warm cake.
  10. Garnish it with the cream.

The recipe is both healthy and tasty at the same time. I have tried it at home and it taste delicous. Do try it yourself and let me know.
