Chocolate Chestnut Dessert

    Yummy chocolate dessert. This recipe was given to me by my grandmother.

    Makes: 1 cake

    • 100g unsalted butter, softened
    • 100g caster sugar
    • 225g plain chocolate, melted
    • 1 can (440g) unsweetened chestnut puree
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • To decorate
    • 150ml double cream, whipped
    • 1 can (200g) mandarin segments

    1. Lightly grease and line the base of a 450g loaf tin.
    2. Cream the butter and sugar until light and creamy.
    3. Add the chocolate, chestnut puree and vanilla extract.
    4. Beat together until smooth and creamy.
    5. Turn the mixture into the loaf tin and place in the fridge overnight.
    6. To serve, turn onto a serving plate and decorate with piped cream and mandarin segments.
