We usually called them muesli bars in Australia but here's some proper Commonwealth snacking. The secret is to use demerara sugar and not brown sugar. Couldn't be easier!
Makes: 12 bars
115g demerara sugar
1 generous dessertspoon golden syrup
230g rolled oats
- Preheat oven to 170 degrees C.
- In a pan over medium heat, combine sugar, butter and golden syrup. Stir in the oats. Press into a greased 20X30cm slice tin.
- Cook 20 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool and cut into bars.
This didn't work for me. I'm not sure where I went wrong, but the end result was oozing grease.
