Steamed Green Beans with Lemon

This recipe is an example of making a simple thing very good. Use fresh beans, frozen don't have the same flavour. Freshly ground pepper is also a must.

Serves: 2 

  • 500g fresh green beans
  • 2 tablespoons butter, diced
  • freshly ground black pepper and sea salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Preparation:5min  ›  Cook:5min  ›  Ready in:10min 

  1. Trim the beans and remove the strings if necessary.
  2. Place a couple of centimetres of water in the bottom of the pan your steamer fits in and bring to the boil. Steam the beans for 3-5 minutes, depending on how tender you like them.
  3. Transfer the beans to a bowl and toss with 1 tablespoon butter and salt and pepper. Add the lemon juice and toss again, then finish with the last tablespoon butter. Add more salt and pepper if necessary. Serve!
