Mum's Spaghetti Bolognaise

    Might not be everyone's idea of spag bog but it's what I remember from my childhood ;)

    Serves: 4 

    • 500g beef mince
    • 1 medium onion, finely diced
    • 2-3 garlic cloves, crushed
    • 1 teaspoon Italian herbs
    • I (420g) can Heinz big red tomato soup
    • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
    • 1/4 teaspoon chilli powder, (or to taste)
    • pinch sugar
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1/2 packet spaghetti

    Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:25min  ›  Ready in:40min 

    1. Fry onion, garlic and herbs in oil until soft.
    2. Add meat, fry until all liquid is absorbed. Be sure to break it up to fine granules while frying. Add tomato soup, tomato paste, chilli and sugar. Can also add a little hot water to soup can to get all of the soup out and add this to the mix.
    3. Reduce heat and simmer while you are cooking spaghetti (as per the packet instructions).


    A good way to sneak some veg in for fussy eaters is to grate some carrot and zucchini and add to the first step.

    I actually enjoyed the taste of it I added oregano leaves instead of Italian herbs and I add mushrooms and I used gluten free spaghetti instead and I used gluten free shredded cheese instead and I used canola oil instead of olive oil. It was nice and tasty  -  23 May 2017
