Wakefield Steak

    1 hour 40 minutes

This is a popular and simple dinner that I first remember being served by my grandparents, I don't know where 'Wakefield' comes from but I'm sure it would be a good story?

Very similar to the Wakefield casserole I grew up with. (I was in a hurry and didn't want to look through the cookbooks and Internetted instead) Mum's version didn't have the mustard (salt and pepper in the dusting flour) but it had celery, carrot and onion for extra flavour / sneaking the veggies in for the kids, in addition to the beef (we've also had it with lamb - just as good)... it's the preferred casserole in our house.  -  30 Mar 2017
