Cedar Plank Salmon

    Grilling salmon on a cedar plank is a method of cooking that has been around for years. It adds a smoky flavour to to your meat, keeps it moist and keeps it from falling apart. And it looks choice, aye!

    • 2 salmon fillets
    • 1 teaspoon olive oil
    • salt and pepper, to taste
    • 1/2 teaspoon cumin, to taste
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder, to taste
    • 1 teaspoon honey
    • 2 cedar grilling planks

    1. Soak your planks in water for 1 hour (this prevents them from burning). Preheat your ovens griller.
    2. Place salmon on a cutting board and drizzle over the olive oil. Season with salt and pepper. Add a good dusting of cumin and garlic powder then drizzle on the honey.
    3. Place in your oven and allow to grill for about 10 minutes, until the fish flakes easily with a fork. Serve right on the plank.

    Cook's Note

    You can also cook this on the barbie, just cook until fish is cooked though and flakes easily.

    Cedar planks

    You can buy cedar planks online, at barbecue shops, or use UNTREATED cedar shingles from a wood supply shop.
