Homestyle Apple Crumble

    An apple crumble that is quick and easy to make and will guarantee empty plates at the desert table.

    Serves: 4 

    • 6 Granny Smith apples
    • 2 tablespoons caster sugar
    • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
    • 1 cup plain flour
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar
    • 1/2 cup caster sugar
    • 1 cup rolled oats
    • 100g butter

    1. Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees C.
    2. Peel and chop the apples into bite size pieces.
    3. Combine the apple pieces, 2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon in a large bowl until the apple is well coated. Place into a large baking dish (grease dish with butter beforehand), ensure that the bottom of the dish isn't visible and is completely covered by the apple.
    4. Add the remaining ingrediants together in a bowl, cream the dry ingrediants with the butter with your fingers until it has a sand like texture.
    5. Place the crumble topping over the apples and spread until completly covers the apple (if you don't have enough, repeat step 4 until apples are covered).
    6. Bake for 25 minutes in your pre-heated oven or until the top is dry.
    7. Serve with vanilla ice cream or custard and dig in =)


    It is best to use fresh apples, but canned will work just fine.
