Delite Brownies (Lower Fat)

    These are pretty damn good for under 200 calories a slice. I make them when I am trying to stick to eating well but just crave chocolate.

    Serves: 4 

    • 1/2 cup plain flour
    • 1/2 cup self raising flour
    • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
    • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 1/4 cups sugar
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
    • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
    • 200g natural yoghurt or fromage frais
    • 140ml apple puree
    • 2 tablespoons icing sugar

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C and grease and spray a 30 x 20cm baking tin.
    2. Sift flour, cocoa and bicarbonate in a large bowl.
    3. Mix sugar, eggs, vanilla, oil, fromage frais/yoghurt and apple in a large bowl, stirring well until combined.
    4. Add wet ingredients to dry and stir well.
    5. Spread into prepared tin and bake for approximately 30 minutes or until skewer comes out clean.
    6. Leave in pan for 10 minutes to cool then turn onto rack. Dust with icing sugar to serve.


    Can replace the sugar with a replacement for even healthier brownies
