Steak and Mushroom Pie

This is a really easy steak and mushroom pie recipe with the focus on the filling as I use pre-made puff pastry for the pie case.

Serves: 8 

  • 700g steak, diced
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup stock
  • 100g mushrooms
  • 2 sheets puff pastry

  1. Place the meat, onion, flour, salt, pepper and stock in a saucepan and simmer for 45 minutes. Add the mushrooms then simmer for an extra 15 minutes.
  2. In a pie dish lay one of the sheets of puff pastry, pour in the steak and mushroom mix, then top with the second piece of puff pastry.
  3. Bake in a preheated oven at 220 degrees C 20 minutes, and then reduce the temperature to 180 degrees C for an extra 15 minutes.
