    Rich homemade butterscotch set into a bowl or a mould makes a great dessert for a dinner party or just a family get together. Enjoy.

    Ingredients
    Serves: 8 

    • 750g butter
    • 1 cup light brown sugar
    • 2 egg yolks, beaten
    • 2 cups milk
    • 3 dessertspoons gelatine
    • a little boiling water
    • egg whites, stiffly beaten
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

    Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Extra time:2hours chilling  ›  Ready in:2hours25min 

    1. Melt butter and brown sugar. Add egg yolks and milk. Stir well and cook until mixture coats a wooden spoon. Dissolve the gelatine in water then stir into butter mix.
    2. Allow to cool and nearly set, then beat in the stiffly beaten egg whites and vanilla. Set in a bowl or a mould.
