Fresh sliced pears oven baked in a sweet creamy batter for 40 minutes makes a delicious and warm dessert for those chilly autumn evenings, when pears are in season.

Serves: 8 

  • 90g butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 8 medium pears, peeled, cored and sliced

  1. Preheat oven to 220 degrees C. Butter sides and bottom of a 2 litre casserole.
  2. In a large bowl mix together flour and 1/2 cup sugar. Stir in eggs. Gradually add milk and cream, stirring until smooth. Fold in pears.
  3. Pour into prepared casserole, sprinkle top with remaining sugar, dot with remaining butter then bake in preheated oven for 40-50 minutes.
