Cherry Clafouti

    Cherries baked in a batter of sugar, eggs, flour and milk is a lovely dessert. I would say it is like a custard but also like a cake. Almost a flan.

    Serves: 6 

    • 1/4 cup caster sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 1/2 cup plain flour
    • 3/4 cup milk
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
    • 1 cup Morello cherries, drained

    Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:40min  ›  Ready in:50min 

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Grease a pie plate with a thick layer of butter.
    2. Beat together sugar and eggs. Add the vanilla. Add flour and milk.
    3. Place cherries in the greased pie plate. Pour over the batter then bake in the preheated oven for 30-45 minutes.

    This one was not a winner w/us. The consistency was a bit off putting. We all agreed we would prefer a cherry crisp.  -  07 May 2013
