Cherries baked in a batter of sugar, eggs, flour and milk is a lovely dessert. I would say it is like a custard but also like a cake. Almost a flan.
1/4 cup caster sugar
1/2 cup plain flour
3/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 cup Morello cherries, drained
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Grease a pie plate with a thick layer of butter.
- Beat together sugar and eggs. Add the vanilla. Add flour and milk.
- Place cherries in the greased pie plate. Pour over the batter then bake in the preheated oven for 30-45 minutes.
This one was not a winner w/us. The consistency was a bit off putting. We all agreed we would prefer a cherry crisp.
