This savoury kugel has onions, celery, garlic and dried cranberries. This is a super tasty kugel for any holiday and the cranberries liven it up a wee bit.

Serves: 4 

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 4 sticks celery, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries
  • 6 matzos, crunched up
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 300 ml chicken stock
  • 1 cup (250ml) hot water

Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:40min  ›  Ready in:55min 

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. Heat olive oil in a frying pan. Saute the celery for a few minutes then add the onion. Saute until they being to soften then stir in the garlic and cranberries then satue a minute more. Transfer to a large bowl and add the matzo.
  3. In another bowl add salt, pepper, paprika, parsley, eggs, stock and water. Mix until well combined then stir in the matzo mixture. Pour into a greased baking dish then bake in preheated oven for about 30 minutes.
