Slow Cooked Beef Cheeks with Tomato and Red Wine Sauce

    Serves: 4 

    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
    • 1 large onion, sliced finely
    • 1 kg beef cheeks
    • 5 Roma tomatoes, grated
    • 1 tablespoon parsley, chopped
    • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
    • salt and pepper
    • 1/3 cup red wine
    • 1 litre beef stock
    • 4 large potatoes peeled and cut in half
    • beans

    1. Wash beef cheeks and place aside.
    2. Put the slow-cooker on Low and place the olive oil in then place the garlic and onion in and stir for a few seconds then add the beef cheeks.
    3. Add the tomatoes and sugar. Mix well before you add the parsley, salt and pepper, wine and the beef stock - you can add more stock if you like. If you like you can add the potatoes in the slow cooker or you can steam them with the beans.
    4. Last you add the wine and let cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.
    5. You can serve the meal with a Greek salad or a salad of your choice.

    Perfect! except I used 500ml (not 1 ltr) of beef stock. From past recipes of using my slow cooker, you really don't need too much liquid. Great result and so tasty. A winner in our household! Thank you :-)  -  30 Jul 2017
