Loaded with walnuts, dates and a hint of cinnamon, these little nut dainties are perfect for morning tea, school fetes, or just an any time snack.

The Walters

Serves: 6 

  • 250g butter
  • 1/2 cup (110g) sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup (120g) chopped dates
  • 3/4 cup (90g) walnuts
  • 1 1/2 cups (190g) plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • pinch salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarb soda
  • 2 tablespoons boiling water

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
  2. Cream together butter and sugar. Beat in egg. Stir in dates and nuts. Sift in flour with cinnamon and salt then mix well. Dissolve bicarb soda in boiling water then stir in.
  3. Bake in pastry tins or paper baking cups, in preheated oven for 15 minutes.
