On the days where simple is best, give this simple cake a go. Eggs, flour, bicarb soda and cream of tartar is all you need. This delicious sponge is great with tea.

Makes: 1 cake

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarb soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:40min 

  1. Preheat oven to 190 degrees C. Grease a loaf tin.
  2. Beat eggs well. Sift together flour, bicarb soda and cream of tartar. Slowly beat into the eggs.
  3. Pour into greased loaf tin then bake in preheated oven until a knife inserted into the centre comes out clean, roughly 30 minutes.
