    Miss Irvine taught my mother cooking at Launceston High School in Tassie in the early 20th Century. Her cookery book is still the base for the current school cookbook in Tasmania all these years later. This Apple Crumble recipe explains why. Simple but delicious!

    Ingredients
    Serves: 4 

    • 6 Granny Smith apples peeled and sliced
    • 2 tbls sugar
    • water
    • 3/4 cup SR Flour
    • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
    • 30g butter or margarine

    Directions
    Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:20min  ›  Ready in:30min 

    1. Stew apples, sugar and water till soft.
    2. Rub butter into combined SR Flour and brown sugar till like breadcrumbs. (I use my food processor.)
    3. Pour hot cooked apple into casserole.
    4. Top with crumble and bake on 180c for 20 minutes or golden brown.
    5. Serve with custard and/or icecream.

    Tip

    An easy, quick and delicious. One of my family's favourites.
