    These quick and easy scones are sweetend with golden syrup or treacle and spiced up with a bit of ginger. I hope you enjoy then as much as I do.

    Serves: 8 

    • 3 cups flour
    • 1 tablespoon sugar
    • pinch of salt, to taste
    • 1 teaspoon bicarb soda
    • 1 teaspoon ginger
    • 1 tablespoon butter, softened
    • 3 tablespoons treacle or golden syrup
    • milk, to bind

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
    2. Mix together the flour, sugar, salt and bicarb soda. Stir in the ginger. Rub in the butter then add the treacle or golden syrup. Stir in just enough milk to form a soft dough.
    3. Cut into squares with a knife then bake on prepared tray in preheated oven until cooked though and golden brown, about 20 minutes.
