War Loaf

    As you can tell, this recipe dates back to war times. Buy using just the basics of what was available, this loaf was a delicious treat. It is still just as enjoyable today.

    Makes: 1 loaf

    • 1 cup (250ml) milk
    • 1 dessertspoon golden syrup
    • 1 cup (125g) self raising flour
    • 1 cup (125g) wholemeal flour
    • big pinch salt, to taste

    Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:45min  ›  Ready in:55min 

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Grease a loaf tin.
    2. Mix milk and syrup together then add to other ingredients. Pour into a loaf tin then bake until done, about 30-45 minutes.
