This date pudding recipe has been in our family for a really long time. This is a simple steamed date pudding using plenty of chopped dates.

The Walters

Serves: 4 

  • 2 cups (250g) flour
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarb soda
  • pinch salt
  • 60g butter
  • 250g dates, pitted and chopped
  • milk, to bind

Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:1hour30min  ›  Ready in:1hour45min 

  1. Combine flour, cream of tartar, bicarb soda and salt. Rub in butter. Stir in chopped dates and add enough milk to bind.
  2. Place in a greased pudding basin with greaseproof paper on top then steam for 1 1/2 hours.
