A delicious slow cooked marmalade recipe, handed down through the generations using Seville oranges, a lemon, a sweet orange and sugar.

The Walters

Makes: 4 jars

  • 4 Seville oranges, cut thinly
  • 1 sweet orange, cut thinly
  • 1 lemon, cut thinly
  • 5 pints water
  • 2 1/2kg sugar

  1. Soak the fruit for 36 hours in the water.
  2. Boil fruit and water for 2 hours. Add sugar then boil until it jellies, about 30 minutes.

Seville Oranges

If you can't get your hands on Seville oranges, use any sour variety of orange that you can find.
