Candy corn is a traditional American Halloween lollie or candy that is available in stores. Candy corn is not available in Australia so this is a nice recipe that you can make at home. It is very time consuming recipe.
In a large saucepan over high heat, combine the sugar, corn syrup and butter. Bring to a boil while stirring, continue to boil for about 5 minutes, Stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
In a separate bowl combine icing sugar, milk powder and salt, pour in the corn syrup mixture and mix well. Allow the dough to cool until it can be handled.
Divide the dough into three balls. Add yellow food colouring to one, and combined red and yellow food colouring( to make orange) leave the third white. mix well until the colour is even.
Carefully roll out the dough into a long snakes or ropes. Lay them along side each other, with orange rope in the middle. Press them together to make a long narrow rectangle.
Cut the dough into triangles and the shape to round edges slightly.
