This easy sandwich cake uses only one egg. This cake is an economical recipe handed down though the generations. Fill with jam and cream if desired.

Serves: 2 

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water

Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:15min  ›  Ready in:25min 

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Grease two small round cake tins or pie tins.
  2. Combine all ingredients then pour into the prepared tins. Bake in preheated oven until done, about 20 minutes. Cool then sandwich together with jam and cream if desired.
