This is a slice, baked on filo pastry with butter, pistachio, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, honey and sprinkled with sunflower seeds then cooled to serve.
4 sheets filo pastry
4 cups (600g) pistachio kernels, diced
1 cup (220g) brown sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon ground cardamom
3/4 cup honey
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
Extra time:1hour cooling ›
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
- Melt two tablespoons of the butter then brush the filo sheets with butter. Lay filo onto a baking tray.
- In a bowl, mix together the butter, pistachios, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom and honey. Mix until combined then press into the filo dough. Sprinkle top with sunflower seeds.
- Bake in preheated oven for about 25 minutes. Allow to cool then cut into chunks.
