Heat the oven to 220 degrees C. Lightly grease a baking tray.
Mix together the flour and salt then rub in the butter.
Stir in the cheese then the milk to get a soft dough.
Turn on to a floured work surface and knead very lightly. Pat out to an oval 2cm thick. Cut into 6 - 8 pieces depending on how large you like your scones then place on the baking sheet. If you prefer you can also use a cutter to stamp out rounds.
Brush the tops of the scones with a little milk. Bake for 12-15 minutes until well risen and golden. Cool on a cooling rack.
