Fried plantains are an accompaniment to many South Pacific and Caribbean dishes. They are very similar to bananas.
Iwould recommend fried plantains to anyone who has not tried them before. I use them as an accompaniement to currys or if I've bought a lot will eat them just as a snack. I tend to do mine slightly different. I fry in a mix of half vegetable oil and half ghee.
