Easy Spaghetti Bolognese

This is the one staple sauce we keep in our freezer that our whole family enjoys. It's rich and filling and the peas add a little pop of flavour while you're chewing.

Serves: 4 

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 500g beef mince
  • 500ml bottled spaghetti sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) red wine
  • 2 beef stock cubes, crumbled
  • 2/3 cup frozen peas, rinsed and drained
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
  • 500g packet spaghetti

Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:45min 

  1. Heat oil in a big heavy frying pan.
  2. Fry onions and mince, stiring until browned.
  3. Add sauce, tomato paste, wine and stock cubes. Bring to the boil.
  4. Add peas and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Stir in garlic and parsley.
  6. Bring a big pot of water to the boil and carefully add spaghetti. Boil for 10 minutes and then drain well.
  7. Put spaghetti in a big serving bowl and pour sauce over. Serve with a sprinkling of parmesan cheese if you like it.
