These Afghans taste like they were made at the bakery and have a smooth dark chocolate icing. Extra yummy.
Makes: 12 biscuits
200g butter, room temperature
1/2 cup (110g) caster sugar
1 1/2 cups (190g) plain flour
3 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cups cornflakes
200g dark chocolate
1/2 cup cream
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Mix flour and cocoa. In large bowl cream butter and sugar. Stir in the flour and cocoa mixture. (I use the mixer). Fold in the cornflakes.
- Roll into balls and place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Flatten balls. Bake in oven for 10-15 minutes. Remove and cool on a wire rack.
- To make icing: In a small bowl, add broken up chocolate, cream and butter. Place in saucepan of hot water. Heat while stirring until smooth. Top cooled Afghans with icing, and add a walnut.
I like this icing much better than my other Afghan icing recipe. Also, I used chopped walnuts because the halved ones were to dear.

Very very nice recipe , also very simple but the taste was certainly better than bought ones. I just used a simple chocolate icing .
