    Serves: 8 

    • 1.5 kg topside beef
    • 4 cloves garlic
    • 2 bay leaves
    • 2 teaspoons salt
    • 1 teaspoon sugar
    • 2 teaspoons mustard seed
    • 1 tablespoon mixed spice
    • 2 cups (500ml) vinegar
    • 2 cups (500ml) water

    Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:2hours  ›  Extra time:12hours marinating  ›  Ready in:14hours10min 

    1. Add all ingredients into a large bowl.
    2. Marinate in refrigerator for at least 12 hrs.
    3. Simmer for at least 1.5 hrs.
    4. Serve with mash, winter vegetables and white sauce.

    I have been cooking this corned beef recipe for many years now, It has more flavour and aroma than the silverside bought at the suppermarkets, I usually marinate the meat for 48hrs and simmer the meat in water adding some of the corning liquer, for extra flavour  -  13 Nov 2011

    What do you mean by 0.5 l vinegar and water. How many cups? or mls. I will make this as I love corned meat. Please be more clear with your recipe.  -  15 Nov 2011
