    this is a lovely chutney to have with cold meat and is also delicious with hot roast beef or lamb

    Ingredients
    Makes: 10 jars

    • 1.5 kg tomatoes
    • 3 medium apples
    • 3 medium onions
    • 500 gms sugar
    • 1 tbs curry powder
    • 1 1/2 tbs mustard seeds
    • 2 dsp salt
    • 2 tbs cornflour heaped

    Directions
    Preparation:30min  ›  Cook:35min  ›  Extra time:1hour cooling  ›  Ready in:2hours5min 

    1. Peel tomatoes, onions and apples. dice tomatoes, onions and apple and cover with vinegar. Boil for 5 minutes on high.
    2. Then add 500gms sugar, 1 tablespoon curry powder, 1 ½ tablespoons mustard powder and 2 dessertspoons salt
    3. Boil for ½ hour then thicken with 2 heaped tablespoons cornflour mixed to a paste with a little vinegar
    4. Use good white vinegar (I used Vine Valley vinegar)
