    A traditional winter warmer, cheap and easy to make...

    Ingredients
    Serves: 8 

    • one good "glug" Olive Oil
    • 1 tsp Garlic Paste or 1 clove crushed
    • 1 tsp Chilli Paste or 1/2 tsp ground
    • 1 Medium Onion, diced finely
    • 1 Stalk Celery, diced finely
    • 3 to 4 Rashers Bacon, chopped finely (smoked works well)
    • 1 Tbsp Tomato Paste
    • 2 Cups = 1 bag French (Brown) Lentils
    • 6 Cups Good Chicken Stock
    • 700g Jar Tomato Passata
    • 2 cups water
    • 1 heaped tsp Oregano or Mixed Dried Herbs
    • Salt & Pepper to taste

    Directions
    Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:4hours  ›  Ready in:4hours10min 

    1. Fry off the garlic, onion, chilli, celery & bacon in a large heavy bottomed saucepan. Transfer to slow cooker.
    2. Add all the other ingredients to the slow cooker and cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours
    3. check seasoning and adjust to your liking
    4. Season to taste & serve with warm buttered crusty bread

    Serving suggestion

    Can be served cold with fresh basil garnish.
