    Mushrooms Stuffed with Italian Sausage

    Stuffed mushrooms are a great party nibble and they don't have to be overly complicated. Italian pork sausage and cream cheese are the fillings for these ones.

    Serves: 10 

    • 250g Italian pork sausage, casings removed and chopped
    • 250g cream cheese, softened
    • 250g (10) cup mushrooms, stems removed

    1. Preheat the griller without the tray.
    2. Place mince in a large, deep frying pan. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain on paper towel and transfer to a medium bowl.
    3. Blend in the cream cheese. Stuff mushroom caps with the sausage mixture.
    4. Arrange mushroom caps on the griller tray. Place under preheated griller for 2 to 3 minutes until lightly browned.

    Used different ingredients. I have been making this recipe for years! They are SO good, can't stop eating at just one! I sometimes add onions, some of the mushroom stems chopped fine or some hot sauce for a little heat. Easy and delicious!! - 29 Sep 2008


    Used different ingredients. I make these for bring-a-plates and sometimes just for dinner with the family. I also pour some melted butter on top and sprinkle them with cheddar cheese before putting them in the oven. It makes them moister and creates a pretty marbled look. - 29 Sep 2008


    I make these all time! I put the sausage in a food processer to make the sausage finer. It blends easier with the cream cheese and the mushrooms are easier to stuff. It takes a little longer put worth the effort for presentation. - 29 Sep 2008
