Marlz Smoked Kahawai Pie

    A quick yummy smoked fish pie using any smoked fish you like. We prefer the kahawai my son catches and we smoke ourselves

    Serves: 4 

    • 1 smoked fish flaked
    • 750 ml milk (use soy for dairy free)
    • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
    • 1 med onion
    • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
    • salt and pepper to taste
    • 2 tablespoons cornflour mixed with some milk
    • 1 block flakey pastry (a sheet of shortcrust)
    • 1 500g Watties potato pompoms

    1. Place milk, butter, onion, parsley into a saucepan and slowly bring to boil turn down to a simmer.
    2. Add fish and seasonings simmer for a few minutes
    3. Thicken with cornflour mixed with milk and set aside to cool.
    4. Roll out pastry to fit a 25cm dish bringing the pastry up the sides. add fish mixture when it has cooled and decorate the top in a cross pattern with pastry strips and filling in the open areas with the potato pompoms.
    5. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes at 220 degrees C.
