Simple Roast Garlic

    33 minutes

A super easy way to roast garlic. Just wrap it in aluminium foil with a dab of butter then roast for about 30 minutes in a moderate oven. Enjoy on crackers or bread.

    Serves: 8

    • 3 medium heads garlic
    • butter

    Preparation:3min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:33min

    1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C.
    2. Cut aluminium foil into three 15cm squares - large enough to wrap each garlic head. Place a knob of butter in each square of foil and place one garlic head into each square. Fold to make parcels out of each square then arrange them in a baking dish or tray.
    3. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the garlic is soft.

You can substitute olive oil for the butter if you prefer!

Something else. Absolutely love this stuff but couldn't give the recipe a 5 star because I didn't follow it. I use a terra cotta flowerpot and base to make this in. Soak the pot in COLD water for 20 minutes and place the garlic (and pot) in the oven then turn on the oven....let the garlic bake while the oven is preheating. Then I let it bake for 30 minutes. This is the way I was taught to do this...and it works every time. Delicious with crackers or a dense bread. Thanks for the post.  -  08 Oct 2008

This was really yummy and quick. In lieu of the butter, I used olive oil with a dash of salt.  -  08 Oct 2008

you cant go wrong with baked garlic. i took the advice of others and used olive oil and salt. excellent. it is true, however, it takes about 40-45 minutes to get soft.  -  08 Oct 2008
