This recipe is for the high altitude baker. When baking at levels over 1150m food cooks differently. This bikkie recipe has been adapted to accommodate the change.
If you like firmer biscuits, increase the flour by 1/4 cup.
I've lived in Colorado 20 years - this is the ONLY chocolate chip cookie recipe that still tastes like "toll house", but works at our altitude. Thank you!!! - 03 Mar 2008 (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
Yay! It worked! I've used Toll House's high altitude recipe and it was just as flat as the orig. recipe. I've tried others that tasted cakey. This is it! Followed directions exactly but switched to Toll house at the end and added 1C. walnuts and the whole bag (2 cups) of chips. PERFECT. Consistantly baked @ 11min using a small ice cream scoop (1+TBSP maybe?) to spoon on cookie sheet. Whoohoo!!! - 28 Jul 2008 (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
Can I just say, thank you, Thank You, THANKYOU!!! I live at a 9,000 Ft. altitude and as you can imagine, making chocolate chip cookies has been a nightmare. This recipe was great! They turned out PERFECT! ....FINALLY! - 26 May 2008 (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
