    An easy way to feed the masses for a fair price. Beef mince simmered with diced tomatoes then seasoned with a hint of nutmeg and sugar. Enough to feed 10 men.

    Serves: 10 

    • 700g premium beef mince
    • 2 onions, diced
    • salt and pepper, to taste
    • 5 tablespoons plain flour
    • 2 (400g) tins peeled and diced tomatoes with juice
    • 150ml tomato juice
    • 2 cups hot water
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    • 1/2 teaspoon white sugar

    1. In a large frying pan over medium heat, cook the beef mince and onions until beef is evenly browned; do not drain. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in flour 1 tablespoon at a time, until beef juices have been absorbed.
    2. Stir in tomatoes, tomato juice and water. Simmer on low heat to thicken.
    3. Stir in nutmeg and sugar; simmer until flavours are blended well. Serve on toast.

    Good stuff I added some chopped jalapeños second time around with the seeds in and put a little grated cheese on top after putting it on toast. - 16 Jun 2014
