Easy Cheesy Pasta Bake

    This recipe is about as simple as it gets and will please even picky eaters. It can also be made ahead of time and refrigerated.

    Serves: 9 

    • 500g penne pasta
    • 60g margarine
    • 2 1/2 cups grated Colby cheese
    • 1 (800g) tin diced tomatoes with green chillies
    • 1 tablespoon white sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt

    Preparation:20min  ›  Cook:1hour  ›  Ready in:1hour20min 

    1. Cook pasta according to packet directions. Drain.
    2. Stir together pasta, margarine, cheese, diced tomatoes, sugar and salt. Place in a 20x30cm pan.
    3. Bake at 200 degrees C for 40 to 60 minutes. The pasta will stick up and brown slightly, so you may want to cover with foil.

    The first time I made this according to recipe and my family of picky eaters loved it. But then I sprinkled southwest seasoning on chicken breast and cooked and cut into bite-sized pieces, added it to the mix and added extra cheese on top, and they devoured it.  -  24 Jul 2007  (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)


    Excellent, fast and easy. I added some salsa to make it a bit more saucy, chunked the cheese and used a bit of Pepper Jack too, since we like more cheese and spicy foods...awesome.
