Caramelised Strawberry Bruschetta
Surprise guests at a party with this variation on tomato bruschetta which uses strawberries and sugar.
Ingredients

- 24 slices French baguette
- 1 tablespoon butter, softened
- 2 cups chopped fresh strawberries
- 1/4 cup white sugar, or as needed

- Preheat the grill. Spread a thin layer of butter on each slice of bread. Arrange bread slices in a single layer on a large baking tray.
- Place bread under the grill for 1 to 2 minutes, just until lightly toasted. Spoon some chopped strawberries onto each piece of toast, then sprinkle sugar over the strawberries.
- Place under the grill again until sugar is caramelised, 3 to 5 minutes. Serve immediately.

I had this today for the very first time and it was fabulous with the following addition: Butter bread, then sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture. I make a strawberry bruschetta , except I toast a nutty hearty bread, and spread with a mascarpone cheese flavored with honey and they put strawberries on top, with a sprig of mint. Toasted the bread and then put the strawberries on top. Also, I used brown sugar instead of white and a bit of fresh ground black pepper.
