This cake is so easy and good you can teach it to your kids to make! Also good dusted with icing sugar or cinnamon sugar.


Serves: 12 

  • 125g butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) white sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon bicarb soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups (185g) plain flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips

Preparation:15min  ›  Cook:30min  ›  Ready in:45min 

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. Grease and flour a 20cm tin.
  2. In a small bowl, mix flour, baking powder, bicarb soda and chocolate chips. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light. Add eggs and mix thoroughly. Add sour cream and mix well. Add flour mixture and mix thoroughly.
  4. Pour batter into tin and bake at 180 degrees C for 30 minutes or until golden brown and springy on the top.
