Oat Flour Biscuits
These are delicious biscuits served either on their own or with a little melted butter. You could also add chocolate chips.
Ingredients
Serves: 24
- 1 cup (90g) oat flour
- 1/4 cup wheat bran
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 6 teaspoons white sugar
- 60g butter
- 1 egg
- 1 cup (250ml) milk
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla essence

- Preheat the oven to 210 degrees C. Grease a baking tray.
- In a medium bowl, stir together the oat flour, bran, salt, baking powder, cream of tartar, cinnamon and sugar. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the egg, milk and vanilla until mixture is well blended.
- Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls onto the prepared baking tray. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, biscuits should be lightly browned.

These are hearty cookies! Good with chocolate chips. But found that it needed about an extra 1 c oat flour (and so 1 more T sugar). Also made a vegan version with 1/4 c almond butter and 3 T applesauce in place of butter- 1/2 T oil for egg- and almond milk. Good! - 21 Jul 2010 (Review from Allrecipes USA and Canada)
